Sports to Play on the Beach and Have Fun

While going for a swim or simply relaxing on a beach blanket or towel are the obvious activities on the beach, that’s not all there is to do. There are lots of fun beach sports that you can play to keep your adrenaline up, your blood pumping, and your competitive side engaged. The various beach sports can make your next water-based trip with your friends a memorable experience.

Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball is one of the most popular beach sports and it is also one of the most traditional ones. You can play with as many people as you want, but it is best if there are 6-7 players on each side. Beach volleyball is played similarly to regular indoor volleyball, where the ball is volleyed over the net until it hits the ground. It is an easy sport to understand and doesn’t require a lot of skill to begin playing. The rules are similar to regular volleyball and you will need proper net to play. Some beaches have them while others don’t. So, it would be a good idea to bring your own.

Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate Frisbee is usually played in an open field and there’s no better playground for this sport than a sandy beach. It is similar to the sport of America football. Each team has seven players. Teammates fling the frisbee to one another and try to get into the end zone of the opponents. It’s a non-contact sport. This means anyone can play it. It is likely that you will have a lot more people wanting to join your game when they see you having fun.

Sand Soccer
Compared to the even fields of regular soccer games, playing soccer on the sand makes it an entirely different and exciting experience than most people are used to. This is because the ball on the sand moves much less predictably and, as a player, you have to consider the moves much more carefully. There is also the risk of twisting an ankle so be careful when playing. All you need to play this sport is a soccer ball and you can play it with as many people as you want.

Beach Flags
This fun beach sport is similar to the game of musical chairs. Flags or items are placed on the playground to be collected out and just like musical chairs game, there is one less flag/item than there are players. A player that fails to collect a flag is eliminated. This is continued until only the winner remains. Things quickly become physical in this fun sport so expect a lot of jumping and flying around. Lifeguards often play Beach Flags to practice their reflexes and sprinting on the beach.
These are just some of the most popular and fun sports to play on the beach. The next time you are heading to a sandy beach, don’t forget to play some of these awesome games with your friends or family members. You will surely have a blast.
